Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur (PHKL) has initiated a new and innovative approach to minimize medication errors by introducing bedside patient medicine cabinets locked by GANTNER. With GANTNER’s solution, the patient medicine cabinet is installed next to the patient’s bed and the prescribed medications are delivered directly from the pharmacy to the patient medicine cabinet. Medications are prepared by the patient’s bedside, thus increasing important time spent between nurses and patients. Because all authorized staff cards can open any patient medicine cabinet within the ward, key management challenges are eliminated. Most importantly, GANTNER’s solution helped Pantai Hospital in Kauala Lumpur achieve their foremost objective – reduction in medication errors due to better medication management at the ward level.
